What is therapeutic laser therapy?

Laser therapy is the application of laser light over injuries or painful areas to improve soft tissue healing which gives relief to recent injuries or chronic pain conditions.

How does laser therapy work?

The energy from laser therapy penetrates the skin driving healing energy (photons) into your tissue.  The main therapeutic effect of laser therapy is to stimulate the repair and healing process of injured tissue.  It has also demonstrated the ability to significantly accelerate and enhance the body’s natural defenses while reducing pain.  The effect is photochemical, similar to photosynthesis in plants.  The laser aids in the production of ATP (this give the cell its energy) which means the cell is in optimal condition to play its part in the natural healing process.

What does laser therapy feel like?

Most people feel nothing from the laser light itself other than a mild warmth.

When should I feel the results?

The effect of the laser can sometimes be felt almost immediately after the session but commonly it takes a few hours for noticeable relief to occur.  The biggest benefit from laser therapy is from the cumulative effect of repeated sessions 2-3 days per week.

Is laser therapy safe?

Therapeutic laser therapy is safe and painless.  In fact many years of clinical use in Europe and Canada have shown no adverse effects.

How long does a treatment session take?

Treatment may take as little as 5 min or as much as 15 minutes.  While some patients many get immediate results with just one or two sessions, others may require several treatments to get the maximal effect.

Are the results long lasting?

Laser therapy is about healing.  It’s not about masking or covering up the condition.  When you feel better from this type of treatment it’s because you ARE better.  Therefore the results can be found to be quite long lasting.

How much does it cost?

The cost of deep laser therapy is dependent on the severity and the type of condition.  We offer special packages on laser treatments if you purchase 6, 12 or 20 sessions.  Since the effects are cumulative the packages will be tailored to fit your condition and severity.

What can therapeutic laser do for me?

Diminished pain, reduced inflammation, decreased edema, faster healing times and relief from neuropathy symptoms.  Laser therapy heals a wide range of conditions including, sprains and strains of muscles, tendons and ligaments like bursitis and tendinitis along with degenerative conditions like arthritis and peripheral neuropathy
